On February 7th, 2024, a United States Marine Corps CH-53E helicopter, assigned to the Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 361, Marine Aircraft Group 16, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, was lost in the mountains of San Diego County. Tragically, all five United States Marines aboard the aircraft perished.
