Salty. It's how we like our tea. Especially when the Crown wanted to tax it. December 16th, 1773, Boston's Griffin Wharf, late in the evening, members of the Son's of Liberty boarded several British East India Company ships, and then dumped 342 chests full of tea into the harbor. This was nearly 90,000 pounds of tea, with a modern day street value of $1,000,000.

The patriots were protesting the Crown's Tea Act, which heavily taxed tea in order to relieve Britain's debt, most of which the Crown claimed was from war expenses on behalf of the American Colonies. The patriots disagreed, and fought back over taxation without representation in the British Parliament.
